Well-intentioned but prone to factual errors, Franklin's book is still fun as you can almost hear his inimitable delivery and enthusiasm for the subject matter as you read along. The Three Stooges receive three pages discussing the team's history.
From the dust jacket...
"This omnibus volume, put together with loving care by the king of nostalgic television, presents in text and photographs the men and women who from the turn of the century to the present have made America laugh. Joe Franklin's Encyclopedia of Comedians is a wonderful collection of biographical sketches of the comedians, as well as many of the routines that made them famous.
Joe Franklin's Encyclopedia of Comedians is a book for all readers - for those who merely wish for a vastly entertaining reading, as well as for those who wish to rekindle memories and laugh again with the comedy stars of the past, or chuckle at emerging comedians of the present. It will inform and delight anyone who appreciates the humor such gifted comedians possess."
