Prolific stage actress who achieved film fame as "straight man" to The Marx Brothers. Ironically, she came out of retirement to reunite with Groucho Marx on ABC's variety show THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE in 1965, and died a few days later.
In addition to her Marx Bros. films, she also worked with Laurel & Hardy in DANCING MASTERS (1943), Abbott & Costello in LITTLE GIANT (1946), Wheeler & Woolsey in KENTUCKY KERNELS (1934) and W. C. Fields in NEVER GIVE A SUCKER AN EVEN BREAK (1941).
