Character actor blacklisted during the McCarthy hearings, who went on to build a Tony-winning stage career (A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM). Moving into television in the early 1960s, he became a familiar face in "Cracker Jack" commercials and sitcom roles. Also an accomplished dramatic actor, costarring with Jack Lemmon in SAVE THE TIGER (1973). Costarred in COCOON (1983).
