56 min. (Feature Film)
Red Mesa's leading businessman secretly controls a gang of crooks that are hijacking Red Mesa's gold mine shipments. Retired U.S. Marshall George O'Brien is rescued by travelling peddlers (Moe, Larry & Shemp) during an ambush. Following George into Red Mesa, the Stooges are soon peddling phony prescription eyeglasses at the local saloon. George saves them from being run out of town, and hires the Stooges to help him sell insurance policies to the mine owners, and investigate the hijacks.
Produced by Jack Schwarz Productions for United Artists distribution.
The Stooges' serenade tune "Jane" was written by... Moe, Larry & Shemp. They introduced the song in THREE HAMS ON RYE (1950), and adapt it as "Nora" in SCRAMBLED BRAINS (1951); see The Three Stooges Journal # 96 (Winter 2000).
Costar Sheila Ryan was married to comic actor Pat Buttram (THE GENE AUTRY SHOW), best known as 'Mr. Haney' on GREEN ACRES (1965 - 1970). Sheila costarred with Laurel & Hardy in GREAT GUNS (1941) and A-HAUNTING WE WILL GO (1942).
