Featuring Shemp Howard (Solo)
63.15 min. (Feature Film)
The St. Louis Robins arrive in town for the World Series against New York, and the Robins' star pitcher Tommy "Mr. Dynamite" Thornton (Lloyd Nolan) takes in the sites by visiting a street carnival in Manhattan's Little Baghdad. A beautiful girl (Irene Hervey) working in a pitching concession catches Tommy's eye, and he follows her into a theater tent featuring a ventriloquist act. A man she meets is stabbed to death during the performance, and Thornton follows her when she escapes. Did she commit the murder, or can Dynamite believe her story that the man was her partner, killed by enemy spies? Tommy is determined to find out, and finds himself also implicated in the murder, uncovering a plot by underground Axis agents to destroy American factories.
Shemp appears briefly as 'Abdullah,' a phony Arab working an equally phony fortune-telling concession at the carnival.
