Featuring Ted Healy and His Stooges
5 min. (Newsreel)
Discovered in the early 1990s in the USC Film Archives, this is five minutes of raw footage filmed by Fox for a newsreel. Whether it was eventually used in a newsreel, and the library title and release date of that supposed film, remains unknown.
The footage features Moe, Shemp and chorus girls from A NIGHT IN VENICE enjoying themselves at Coney Island's Luna Park swimming pool. An item in the August 6, 1929 edition of The Brooklyn Daily Eagle reports that August 6 was designated "A NIGHT IN VENICE Day" at Luna Park. In a publicity event, Coney's management arranged for Ted Healy and the Broadway show's company to spend the afternoon at the amusement park.
