Featuring Ted Healy (Solo)
73.1 min. (Feature Film)
Actress Carlotta 'Charlie' Lee (Gladys George) has had several Broadway flops. Her ex-flame Peter Lawrence (Franchot Tone), a successful New York entertainment columnist seems determined to bury her career, but is actually panning her bad career choices to push her in the right direction. Peter learns that a childhood friend was just killed in an accident, and tracks down the orphaned children (Mickey Rooney and Virginia Weidler). In an attempt to keep them from going to an orphanage, he uses his weekly radio broadcast to ask for adoptive parent applicants. Charlie's publicist Jimmy Slattery (Ted Healy) cooks up a stunt to have her adopt the kids, and after a rough introduction, she comes to love them. But Peter is convinced that it's all still a promotional gimmick, and even though he and Charlie still have deep feelings for each other, the two wind up battling each other for the kids' best interests.
