Featuring Ted Healy (Solo)
69.4 min. (Feature Film)
The SS Carolina is installing a new, top-secret gunnery system, which will be unveiled and tested for visiting foreign dignitaries. Navy Lt. Randolph (Robert Taylor) is in charge of the new system, and romancing his rich girl friend (Jean Parker). Ted Healy comes on board as a civilian electrical engineer who has an eye on the same "goil" as the ship's CPO, played by Nat Pendleton. Enemy activity leads to murder, with Ward Bond in an early role as the murder victim. Lt. Randolph is ordered to solve the killings and maintain national security by keeping the gunnery test on schedule.
Once again, MGM paired Healy and Pendleton as friendly adversaries, with good comic results. An MGM mystery feature is turned into a fun comic diversion due to their interplay.
